Manitoba-Minnesota Transmission Project (MMTP)

Metis N4 Construction is working with Manitoba Hydro on the Manitoba-Minnesota Transmission Project.

The project includes construction of a 500-kilovolt AC transmission line in southeastern Manitoba along with upgrades to the associated stations at Dorsey, Riel and Glenboro. The proposed route will begin at the Dorsey Converter Station, travel south around Winnipeg passing the Riel station (along the Southern Loop corridor), continue south to the Manitoba-Minnesota border and connect to the Great Northern Transmission Line (constructed by Minnesota Power). Subject to regulatory approvals the anticipated service date is in 2020.


Enbridge Line 3 Replacement Project

Construction on the Line 3 Replacement Project has officially started.

Enbridge Multibillion-dollar Line 3 Replacement Program is the largest project in Enbridge history, which involves replacement of all remaining segments of Enbridge Line 3 pipeline between Hardisty, AB and Superior, WI, along with construction of associated facilities. The project involves replacing existing 34-inch-diameter pipe with 36-inch diameter pipe from Hardisty to Gretna, MB, and Neche, ND, to Superior. The new Line 3 will comprise the newest and most advanced pipeline technology, and provide much needed incremental capacity to support Canadian crude oil production growth, as well as U.S. and  Canadian refinery demand.

LiUNA/Local 1258 Labourers Union Training Program

During the same time as the Pipeline 101 Training, Metis N4 Construction and Metis Employment and Training partnered with LiUNA and the Local 1258 Labourers Union to deliver pipeline pre-employment training to Métis citizens. The three-week pre-employment training consisted of three cohorts between the dates of June 11th and July 27th, 2018.

Enbridge Pipeline 101 Training

Metis N4 Construction partners up with Metis Employment and Training and Enbridge to provide Pipeline 101 training to Métis citizens.

Pipeline 101 Training was offered out of the Treherne/St.Claude camp which can sleep more than 100 guests and can host a variety of different training opportunities.

In preparation for the anticipated construction of the Line 3 Replacement Project starting August 1st, 2018 Pipeline 101 Training was delivered to Métis citizens between the dates of May 28th, 2018 and June 23rd, 2018. Training consisted of three cohorts, working with STAAT and Haztech, to provide a two-week program consisting of in-class certification and hands-on training designed to expose the trainees to the actual work environment of working on pipelines.

The Pipeline 101 Training intends to encourage and facilitate Indigenous participants from local communities the means to gain technical knowledge, practical hands-on experience and transferable skills for continued growth and development in a career specifically focused on basic pipeline skills.

Bipole III (C1 Section) Transmission Line Anchor and Foundation Installation Project.

Métis N4 Construction Inc. and Interlake Powerline Contractors Ltd (Forbes Bros. Ltd.) Joint Venture manage Bipole III (C1 Section) anchor and foundation installation project. Both Métis N4 Construction and Metis N4 Construction agreed that this project would make more contributions to the Indigenous population in this province, provide more jobs and promote the provincial economy.

Bipole III (N4 Section) Transmission Line Right-of-Way Clearing

Bipole III is a new high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission project to improve overall Manitoba Hydro system reliability and dependability. This project includes deployment of resources necessary to successfully execute transmission line right-of-way clearing along the N4 section.

Metis N4 Construction Inc is jointing venture with Interlake for Bipole III transmission line work
Both Metis N4 and Interlake joint venture and enter into negotiations and, in addition ,as appropriate and agreed as between them, submit a bid or bids with Manitoba Hydro in relation to Bipole III transmission line work in the area described or identified by Manitoba Hydro as “N4” or any other transmission line work, within Metis traditional lands, including the area in western Manitoba known as the Metis Breadbasket. The project includes clearing of 200 km of brush for the N4 section and operating a 49 person work camp.
